The pioneers are scattered through history, but here we will focus on Willard Reaves, an all-star running back with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and winner of the Grey Cup with the heralded team in 1984. That year, he won Most Outstanding Player in the CFL. He remained with the Blue Bombers for 4 more seasons, then went to the NFL in 1989 playing for Washington and Miami before retiring from the game.
